The church has always valued and honored "nice girls." But God is calling women to be dangerous. We will take a quick tour of the Bible and look as some "dangerous women?" A dangerous woman is a woman who shows up with everything she is and joins the battle against whatever opposes the work of God in our world. A dangerous woman lives with passion, energy and dreams. Dangerous women are world changers.

"Chasing after the wind" is the way Ecclesiastes describes the anxious striving after things. We are restless for things that will not ultimately satisfy and in the end, prove to be elusive. The wisdom of God is to choose to rest from striving. God invites us to enjoy what He has given us and live in His blessings and peace.

First is the Jesus equation - to know Jesus is to know God. Second is the Jesus way; His way is the way of death that leads to life, this is a marvelous paradox. Finally, Jesus leads the way to all that is good, embodied in truth and life.

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

He does this with seven unique pictures in the Gospel of John which are called the seven I AM statements. The first picture Jesus uses is that of bread.
Sometimes we need to slow down and savor the flavor of the food. Christian meditation and memorization helps us do that in a spiritual meal. In meditation, we take time to really focus, dwell and deeply reflect on a passage or phrase from the Bible. It is in meditation of God’s Word that we discover the most profound personal messages God has for us. When we memorize God’s Word, we allow it to stay with us to shape and transform us continually.

The “Appetizer” in our series is the reading of the Word. If the meal involves the study of the Word, READING the Word is relish before the meal. Of course we are talking about more than the physical ability to read the printed word. We are talking about the attitude and the heart that we bring to the reading.

Fresh, healthy, delicious fruit (actions that represent the Kingdom of God) is the result of being connected to Jesus, nothing less and nothing more. This connection nourishes us in such a way that our lives and good deeds will nourish and bless others.

He chose to become “Immanuel” - to live among us. It was His greatest gift to mankind. It was the road that eventually led to another road that took Jesus to the cross.

We are finishing the Road Less Traveled message series. The road to Bethlehem is one of the two most difficult roads ever traveled. God chose the road to Bethlehem. He chose to become “Immanuel” - to live among us. It was His greatest gift to mankind. It was the road that eventually led to another road that took Jesus to the cross.

God disciplines us because He wants to guide, teach, correct and train us to follow and obey Jesus well.
“Life is difficult.” Somehow we have this strange notion that it shouldn’t be. We struggle against that reality. Life is tough and we must decide that living requires character. Character is found on the road less traveled. For the next 6 weeks our series will challenge us to grow in specific ways. Our first character quality is unconditional love. As far as Jesus is concerned this is the highest road. Let’s consider a story from the life of Jesus, found in the book of Luke, that illustrates the kind of love that puts us on the road less traveled.

Revelation tells the Big Story with all its brutal reality and incredible hope. We are blessed and are called to be a blessing. But we are in conflict with a world that has bought the curses. This world wants to rob all people of blessing and will attack the blessing givers. We are called to be faithful deliverers of God’s blessing, regardless of the challenge or cost.

The Bible has one overarching story from Genesis to Revelation. All the major stories of the Scripture demonstrate how people engage a quest. They choose to seek God and join Him in His purpose (blessing) OR they join the quest of corruption and self-serving purpose (curse). Seeing the BIG STORY in the Bible helps us to find our own place in the story of God as it continues today. Joining God is joining the quest to bless in order to verse the curse.

Is everything in the Bible factual?
How literal is the Bible?
Was the earth created in 6, 24 hour days?
Was Jonah really swallowed by a whale or big fish?
Does a story have to be factual in order to be true?
How much does the factuality of these stories affect my faith in Bible truth?
