Against All Odds
God has called us to get into the game. Will we sit on the bench and think about the work of the Kingdom? Or will we stand up, suit up and take the first hit for Jesus?
Today we are going to hear Pastor Harvey Carey in a message he gave at The Global Leadership Summit last year. He is the Senior Pastor of the Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, MI, located in one of the poorest zip codes in America. How can this church of 650 make a difference in such a challenging area? Get ready to have your faith challenged and encouraged! And don’t miss The Global Leadership Summit this August 5 & 6 to hear more inspiring and challenging speakers.

Life was meant to be lived out in a relationship with God and others. This relationship with God has been filled with purpose…Go and Tell the world…so that all people will have the opportunity to know God. The apostle Paul, a great missionary, and often though of as A man on A mission ends his letter to the church in Rome with a list of acknowledgment to people. People that knew his purpose and in fact were engaged with him to accomplish the purposes of God. Yes, life is meant to be lived out with others, and our purpose is best accomplished with friends.

Paul’s mission and passion is to take the good news of Jesus to anyone and everyone who has not heard of Jesus. That was his laser focus. That is our focus as well. Jesus gives life to the full and we want everyone to have the opportunity to know him (or reject him if they choose) and the life he gives. One of the priorities for us is to reach those no one is reaching-here in Tucson and through our international mission partners. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and we follow him with the same focus and clarity.

No one likes to be judged or condemned. No one. It is ugly-always ugly. It leaves deep wounds. As people who were saved, we of all people should shun judgmental-ism and condemnation of others. In Christ, God chose to accept us rather than condemn us or have us stand in judgment. Acceptance and encouragement reflects the heart of God and is one of the most life giving gifts we can give. May we put the needs of others ahead of ourselves and consciously choose not to be a spiritual stumbling block to anyone.
