In Matthew 6:11-15, Jesus taught us to develop our relationship with and dependence on Him. Using three requests as examples, He emphasizes dependence rather than getting what we want. We admit we are weak and dependent on God for that which really matters in life. Thus, every prayer is in fact a 911 prayer.

True prayer is not based on manipulation, speaking the right formula, having the right words & lofty ideas or even having the right theology. True prayer begins with a sense of utter dependence, a sense of vital relationship, the sense that the answer to our wholeness lies beyond human resources. It lies in having a vital relationship with a Father with whom we communicate naturally – 24/7.
