God wants us free from worry, anxiety and fear. Freedom from these things comes when we quit chasing after stuff and instead chase after God. The stuff won’t last but God is a treasure that keeps giving.
What we really long for will determine our focus, which will govern where we’ll put our time, talents and treasures. We have a basic choice in life between being rich toward ourselves or toward God. Being rich toward ourselves is greed and we only end up with stuff. Being rich toward God is generosity and we end up with the eternal God.

No one can really live and stand as a saint on their own power alone. Prayer keeps us God-focused and God-dependent as we face the huge challenges of being a saint in a world that is hostile to saints. We have access to a power far greater than our own and we connect with it through prayer.
