We are finishing the Road Less Traveled message series. The road to Bethlehem is one of the two most difficult roads ever traveled. God chose the road to Bethlehem. He chose to become “Immanuel” – to live among us. It was His greatest gift to mankind. It was the road that eventually led to another road that took Jesus to the cross.

Discipline is a road seldom traveled. In order to follow Jesus well, love the unloveable, be patient, grateful and generous, we need discipline. God disciplines us because He wants to guide, teach, correct and train us to follow and obey Jesus well. We need to develop discipline, or spiritual habits, that help us keep connected to God and learn from Him.

The road less traveled is a road of generosity. God gives to us generously so that we can be a conduit to share God’s gifts to others. It is not about the amount we give, but that we give generously which reflects the very heart of God.

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
