The New Testament is clear that a group of elders serve as the “overseers” and “shepherds” of the church (Acts 20:28-31; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 5:17; 1 Peter 5:1-3). At Pantano Christian Church, our Elders set the vision and direction of our church while insuring that we maintain biblical integrity and honor God through our community life. The Elders’ focus is on strategic leadership rather than administrative detail. Therefore, they empower the Lead Pastor to guide the staff and volunteers to accomplish ministry (see Acts 6:2-4 as a model). Elders are affirmed by the congregation and serve for 3 year terms.
