Your very lives are a letter that anyone can read by just looking at you. Christ himself wrote it—not with ink, but with God’s living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives … (2 Corinthians 3:2-3)
Communicating our faith to other people begins with living a life that other people find compelling. Few people care about reading a book if they don’t find its subject, content and style compelling enough to read. In the same manner our lives must become a flesh-and-blood, living-breathing argument for true and living God that others find compelling enough to investigate. From there outreach is a natural part of our conversations and lifestyle.
Some of the key traits we encourage that make people interesting are:
- Credibility
- Integrity
- Authenticity
- Vulnerability
- Approachability
- Inclusive of others (rather than exclusive)
- Involved in secular community (rather than isolated behind church walls)
- A servant’s heart
- Lover of our neighbors
- Lover of God
- Not religious or judgmental
