Pantano Christian Church partners with BORN (Bihar Out-Reach Network) in Bihar, India, to reach the millions of Hindus and Muslins in that region with the Gospel of Christ. The main focus in our partnership is the Bhojpuri people. The 20 million Bhojpuris of Bihar are poor and backward, but are responsive to the Gospel. During the last five years, over 5000 people have been baptized and 200 churches planted in this region. Since the local government is favorable to Christian mission work, now is the opportunity to launch out and reach as many people as possible with the gospel.
BORN, under the leadership of Dr. S.D. Ponraj, trains Grass Roots Church Planters, both full time workers and volunteers. Being an oral culture, they are trained in oral communication methods using the “Communication Bridges” developed by SIU (Scriptures In Use), another partner with BORN and Pantano.
Teams from Pantano participate in the annual Bless Bhojpuri conference by teaching the pastors & evangelists, volunteers and women. Teams also provide teaching and training in the Men’s and Women’s Schools of Evangelism in Patna, Bihar (BORN headquarters).
An India Life Group has begun and involved in promoting awareness of the work God is doing in India. The Life Group has sponsored a “Baptism tanks for India” campaign which raised funds to purchase 25 tanks. There are not enough rivers or streams near the villages which means new believers must travel many miles to a polluted river for baptism. Baptism tanks are such a blessing to the village churches.
