Pause

pause
I just want to thank you for your involvement in the Elements gathering. We have been meeting since September 8th. We have experienced some hurdles and God has taught me some pretty really cool things about my self and about building a community. We have realized we need to slow down and put some structure to some things that we overlooked.

I am convinced we need to reach the culture represented in the 20-30 somethings. I think we missed it in how we did the service and when to hold the service (Sat. pm is not the optimum time for the target age group). We must have a gathering time that is consistent and compelling. we have not done that so we need to pause our current plan is to end elements as a regular service the last weekend of the year.

Then our plan is for us to take the next couple months (or more) to re-organized, develop teams and plan a re-launch. It was announced to PCC Live in Glen’s end of the year message called Looking Forward. We have a better chance of re-starting the Elements weekly gathering It will allow us the time needed to re-start properly.

We will be moving to Sun pm meetings starting Jan 6 to begin forming and training the launch team for an March 08 launch. this will allow us to stay on the current weekly teaching and better and less schedule conflicts if we start on Sunday nights
this is a summation from Glen Elliot the lead pastor:

Bottom line – this is not an issue of failure. We took a risk, learned some great lessons, and now re-group to move forward. I always want to honor risk taking along with the honesty of admitting we missed it and figure out what or how to do things differently. We die if we fail to risk. There is no story in total safeness. The gospel story is ALL about risk.

Comments work, and we’re n00bz

So comments haven’t been working on the Elements blog. DOH! The embarrassing part is that I’m the guy who setup the blogging system for pccwired.org (so I know it inside and out). I just hadn’t tested commenting over here on Elements…

Say something!

(thanks, Kate!)

Get ready…

…cuz Elements is coming soon! As you can hopefully see here, we’ve launched a blog (+ podcast, but we haven’t started the podcast quite yet). The theme is a work in progress, so don’t be surprised if things disappear or move around unexpectedly. Also, I’m pretty sure the site is 100% broken in IE6. If you’re using Windows, I highly recommend using Firefox or upgrading to IE7. I’ll make it work for everybody……… eventually…….

One of the goals for the The Elements Team is to build a community. A big chunk of that community is going to happen virtually – and we have selected some of the finest meat from the Web 2.0 cow.

MySpace – you love the networking, you hate the Friend Request spam. We’ve got a group set up at MySpace which will generally be used as our “discussion forum.”

YouTube – no, not another homemade light saber video. There’s an Elements group at YouTube where we will be posting the video content we’ll be creating. You can also submit your own videos to be listed in the Elements group.

Flickr – coolest photos anywhere… period. I’m not sure how we’re going to use the Flickr group, but Elements is all about creativity, and that includes art/photography.

43Things – “Do it!” (That’s Zoolander, not the Nike slogan). 43Things is where we can “sign up” for goals and projects that the Elements is working on.
