Grand Central Events » Parents

If you would like to help us as a chaperone or a leader on one of the activities profiled in our summer calendar, we would love to have you!

All parent helpers are expected to participate in the activities for the event that they are assisting. For example, if water is involved, parents should plan to get wet, if skating is involved, they should plan to skate, etc. For the safety of our children, parents must be able to be hands-on during the event.

Elementary day trip volunteers will lead groups of 8-10 children. All trip leaders must plan on traveling with us by bus and church van.  If you would like to assist, but have children who are outside the “age limits” of the event, we use the following rule of thumb: A parent who is accepted as a volunteer is allowed to sign up a sibling as an attending child as long as that sibling is no younger than  1 year younger and no older than 1 year older than the “age limit” of the event you want to assist for.   Children of parent volunteers must be pre-registered and we will allow up to 2 children to attend for ½ price.   Parents who are accepted as volunteers attend for free.

If you are interested in finding out more, please call Robin Blumenthal (298-5395 x205) or fill in the appropriate space on the registration form. You will be notified as to our needs for that day, as some trips end up with more  volunteers than needed.

Thank you!

VBS and On-Site events are where we use our parent volunteers as leaders and/or teachers for groups. Parents have the option to work in their child’s age group or in another age group. We do not use volunteers for our off-site events because  Preschool/kindergarten parents MUST attend the off-site events and pay as noted.

Children of parent volunteers must be pre-registered and we will allow up to 2 of these children to attend for ½ price. (Children who are 2+ years older than the target age group may be able to serve with you as helpers, please contact us for more info on this).

Dedications are designed for parents to take time tospecifically dedicate their child to God.

We offer 2 types of dedication services. For those who prefer a small intimate setting of family and friends, private dedications are offered either at church or in the family’s home. Please contact Robin Blumenthal, the Children’s Pastor, (or any PCC pastor) to set up a time and location for your family. For those who prefer to participate in a larger dedication setting during one of our weekend services, we offer 2 weekends per year.

Next class: TBA   (Classes are held 4 times a year on Sundays at 11a.m)

The Children’s Baptism Class, taught by Donna Gudgel, is offered to elementary children and their parents to help answer questions about baptism. Many parents often ask for help in determining if their child is ready to make this important life decision. To offer guidance, Donna has designed a class that is interesting, interactive, and informative. We recommend this class for all children considering baptism. Parents are encouraged to attend with their child. While no pre-registration is necessary, we would love to hear from you if you and your child are planning to attend.
